We're looking for people to translate written text and audio pieces from English into Punjabi and vice-versa, ensuring that their meaning, tone, and format are maintained.

Being a translator involves carefully understanding what you're reading in the source language, using specialized dictionaries and translation tools to do your job well, and then proofreading your work. If you have that "keen eye for detail,” you can be an excellent fit for this role.

As a translator for Cethos, you’ll collaborate with our team and work on various interesting projects from all over the globe. Working from home, you’ll ensure accuracy while ensuring that source materials are translated accurately and consistently across teams and clients.

Ultimately, you will provide ready-to-use translated content that meets our internal or client’s needs and helps us reach a broader audience.

Responsibilities

• Read given material and research industry-specific terminology
• Translate text and audio recordings from English to Punjabi or vice-versa or review existing translations to meet the client’s expectations.
• Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone
• Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations
• Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check the quality of translation
• Proofread translated texts for accuracy, style, grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy and report errors.
• Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs.
• Edit content to maintain its original format (e.g. font and structure)
• Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices
• Test and onboard new translators.

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role
• Native in Punjabi and high fluency in English
• Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify accuracy, style, grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
• Good knowledge of content editing tools
• Familiarity with translation software
• Time-management skills
• Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus
